Dr. Vladimir Mariano (Vlad) is the Lead Faculty for Technology and Innovation at the YSEALI Academy of Fulbright University Vietnam. Vlad graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, with research interests in machine learning and computer vision.

As an academic, Vlad has served as Director and Associate Professor of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of the Philippines Los Banos. In Vietnam, Vlad served as Lecturer and Research Coordinator of the School of Science and Technology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

On the side, Vlad teaches kids coding, assembling electronics and making robots. He enjoys traveling, art work and playing the piano.

He is a research scientist at Google London. Moreover, he is on his final-year as a PhD Student in the School of Informatics at University of Edinburgh, under the supervision of Mirella Lapata. I am fortunate to be awarded a Google PhD Fellowship. He also have worked with Seung-won Hwang in Yonsei University, Peter J. Liu in Google Brain, and Sang-Woo Lee in NAVER AI Lab.

His research interests lie on the intersection of machine learning and natural language processing, mainly on using discrete and latent information in natural language, such as topics, sentiments, and syntax, to enable customization on text generation tasks such as text summarization.

Dong-Seong Kim received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 2003. From 1994 to 2003, he worked as a full-time researcher in ERC-ACI at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. From March 2003 to February 2005, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Wireless Network Laboratory in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, NY. He is currently a director of ICT Convergence Research Center supported by Korean government at Kumoh National Institute of Technology. His current main research interests are industrial wireless control network, networked embedded system and Fieldbus.

Dr. Ferddie Quiroz Canlas is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computing in Muscat College handling courses in the MSc in Big Data from the University of Stirling(UK), Advanced Diploma from the Scottish Qualification Authority (UK), and BSC in Software Engineering from University Malaysia Pahang. He is also a member of the Strategic Planning and Implementation Committee, Academic Steering Committee, and the coordinator of the undergraduate research of the said institution. Dr. Canlas published and presented papers in various indexed journals and conferences in the field of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Project Management. He also serves as a technical committee member and reviewer to various international conferences in UK, China, and India to name a few. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Advances in Networks (NET) Journal and American Journal of Computer Science and Technology(AJCST), and a regular reviewer of the Open Computer Science Journal.

Senior Threat Engineer, Trend Micro Research

As part of the Machine Learning team, his role includes monitoring prediction problems, analyzing data for new features and improvements, creating reports for malware insights, and doing some manual web analysis detection from time to time. Aside from detecting malicious URLs, Paul's team also develops a machine learning model that assists Web Reputation Services Operations in handling volumes of cases.

Threat Response Engineer, Trend Micro

As part of the Web Reputation Services (WRS), he is responsible for manual web analysis detection, including reclassification, and blocking and unblocking of URLs from customers and internal submissions. Prior to his role, he was part of the File Detection team where he performed file analysis. His expertise qualified him to be part of the Campaign Investigation Group under TERT that conducts monitoring and investigation on relevant campaigns.
